Meet John

I am a father of three who loves the Lord Jesus Christ.  My goal in life is to love Him and serve Him, and in turn, train my boys to do the same. I work with incarcerated youth weekly and strive to help them discover real life in Christ. I teach a Bible study in a local Juvenile Detention Center. In 2001, I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Pastoral Studies, and in 2009 I received my Master's Degree in Theology.

I have a real heart for prison ministry. God has given me a burden to "...remember those who are in bonds, as though bound with them..." (Hebrews 13:3). While we can never forget the victim of a crime, people who commit crimes are still people too. They need God's love as much as the rest of us. I meet so many young people who are blown away to find out that there is a God Who loves them and died for them.

In May of 2010, I had the privilege of attending the Returning Hearts Celebration at Angola Prison in Louisiana, with Awana Clubs International. It was a heart-rending 2 days spent mingling with inmates who put their faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ and subsequently allowed Him to take over their lives. It was an amazing weekend. Again in May 2014, I was able to return to Angola with 26 Bible college students who each had a life-changing experience.

In 2016, life took a hard turn for the worse, and in late 2017, 18 years of marriage came to a heart-breaking end. Through the pain and darkness, God showed Himself strong on my behalf. The lessons learned can be found in my book, When You Can't See the Shepherd.

Today, I'm still striving to serve God every day, to let my life point to Jesus. I don't want to be known for the trials I've gone through; rather I want people to see what God has done through my life and give Him glory for how good He is.
